Specific Combat Strategies & Tips

BJ's unique capabilities demand specific strategies to maximize his effectiveness:

• Leverage Dual-Wielding: Don't just dual-wield for the sake of it. Combine weapons strategically. A Schockhammer and a Sturmgewehr offer close-range devastation and medium-range versatility. A silenced Pistole and a Maschinenpistole allow for stealthy Commander elimination followed by rapid-fire cleanup. Experiment to find combinations that suit your current engagement.
• Prioritize Commanders: Always identify and eliminate Commanders first, ideally via stealth. This prevents them from calling in reinforcements, drastically simplifying combat encounters. Use your "Tactical Map" (default 'M' on PC, D-Pad Up on consoles) to locate them. Commanders are often found in elevated positions or patrolling specific routes.
• Use Cover Aggressively: While BJ is resilient, he's not invincible. Utilize cover to reload, regenerate health, or plan your next move. However, don't be afraid to break cover and push forward when the situation demands it, especially with dual-wielded shotguns or when using Ram Shackles.
• Exploit Weaknesses: Heavily armored enemies like SuperSoldaten are vulnerable to headshots or concentrated fire from heavy weapons like the Laserkraftwerk or Dieselkraftwerk. Robot dogs (Panzerhunds) are susceptible to explosives and sustained fire to their exposed power core on their back. Drones are easily dispatched with a few precise shots from any weapon.
• Embrace the Hatchet: Don't underestimate the power of a melee attack. A well-timed hatchet throw can instantly kill most standard enemies, saving ammo and providing a satisfying crunch. Melee takedowns are silent and conserve ammo, making them ideal for stealth.
• Manage Health and Armor: Always be on the lookout for health and armor pickups. In Wolfenstein II, overcharging armor (picking up armor when already full) provides a temporary buffer above your maximum, which can be a lifesaver in intense firefights. Health kits can also overcharge your health up to 200.
• Environmental Awareness: Look for explosive barrels, gas tanks, or electrical panels. Shooting these at the right moment can clear groups of enemies or disable turrets, turning the environment into an extension of BJ's arsenal. Also, look for destructible cover that can be exploited.
• Utilize Heavy Weapons: Don't hoard heavy weapons like the Lasergewehr or Dieselgewehr. They are powerful, temporary pickups designed to clear rooms or take down powerful enemies quickly. Use them when you encounter large groups or SuperSoldaten.
