Walkthrough
  1. 1
Enter the first area and shoot the crocodile in the pool.
  2. 2
Dive in, swim to the other side, and pull up on the right. Two lions are present; staying to the right may trigger only the first lion.
  3. 3
After defeating the first lion, go left to fight the second lion. Retreat to the water if they get too close.
  4. 4
A third lion is inside the building to the left. To trap Pierre later, you'll need to defeat this lion.
  5. 5
Go inside the building, take a left, stand on the first step, and roll onto the second step. Quickly exit the building and retreat to the water to fight this lion safely.
  6. 6
Head to the left side of the building and study the path up. Run or jump onto the first block, pull up onto the ledge, side jump right to another ledge, and roll.
  7. 7
Get onto the next block, move to the far edge, and pull up onto the higher ledge. Practice this sequence as it may be needed quickly later.
  8. 8
For now, stop at step #4 (on the block before the higher ledge), follow the lower ledge as far as it goes, and retrieve a large Medi Pack (Pickup 1).
  9. 9
Backtrack to the point where you can pull up to the second level (step #5). Follow this path until you see an opening to the south.
  10. 10
Before entering the opening, retrieve Secret #1. Slide down the ledge in front of the opening, walk to the NW corner of the next raised surface, and execute a long running diagonal jump as shown in the screenshot. A standing jump from there will land Lara in the cave for Secret #1 (Shotgun Shells, Pickup 2).
  11. 11
Return to the gap. Hop through and kill the two crocodiles (Kills 5, 6).
  12. 12
Drop into the pit and collect a small Medi Pack (Pickup 3).
  13. 13
Climb out of the pit and jump/grab the crevice to the north. Shimmy right until you can pull up into the opening. Head into the cave for Secret #2 (Shotgun Shells, Pickup 4).
  14. 14
Drop/grab out of the cave and continue right until you can stand on the ground.
  15. 15
Continue forward and drop through the hole. Pause before climbing the stairs.

Option 1: Trap Pierre

  1. The switch in front of you opens a gate leading back to the area where you found the first Secret, specifically through the building to where you fought the optional third lion.
  2. Throw the switch to open the gate. Go up the stairs and roll across the second step from the top.
  3. This will trigger Pierre. Run back down the stairs, take a right, and run through the open gate.
  4. Once outside the building, turn right and repeat the climb up the rocks and over to the building, going through the hole in the wall. Pierre will pursue you and shoot from the ground but cannot follow you onto the building or through the rock wall.
  5. Loop back around to the switch, throw it to close the gate, and retreat to the area by the steps. Pierre can shoot through the gate, but trapping him there removes him as a threat for the rest of the level.
  6. An alternative is to run through the gate and wait for Pierre where the stairs bend. You can then try to run back to the switch and throw it before he gets through the gate. This method may result in more damage and a significant risk of Pierre ending up on the wrong side of the gate.

New Game+ Notes:

  • This level has 4 Save Crystals, with some long stretches between them.
  • Recommended starting ammo: 35 shotgun shells, 700 rounds for Uzis and Magnums.
  • Trapping Pierre is optional; consider the time investment versus the potential health savings.
  • Most enemies can be defeated from protected positions, allowing for ammo stockpiling, which is beneficial for the next level's high kill count.
  • With care and time, this level is manageable in NG+ Mode.
