Dive deep into The Blood of Dawnwalker's combat system. Learn about directional attacks, parrying, stamina management, camera angles, and perk upgrades for both human and vampire forms.

The Blood of Dawnwalker features a unique directional combat system where players must choose one of four attack directions (up, down, left, or right) to strike enemies. Success in combat relies on observing enemy attack patterns and parrying in the corresponding direction. A yellow indicator will signal when an attack can be parried or when an opening for attack is available.

Stamina management is crucial, as attacking and parrying consume stamina, which is displayed on the HUD under the health bar. Successfully landing attacks, blocking, and parrying fills activation charges, which are used to unleash active abilities.

Players can choose between two camera angles: a 'far' angle for better situational awareness against multiple enemies, and a 'close' angle for focused one-on-one combat and precise parrying.

Coen's progression involves upgrading perks, which can reduce the stamina cost of attacks, speed up attack animations, and make hexes more efficient. Perks also enhance vampire form abilities, such as claw attacks and reduced stamina consumption.

Combat is viewed from a third-person perspective, with the camera shifting to focus on the active target. A lock-on system tracks enemies, displaying their weapon and Coen's guard icons. Coen can learn weapon abilities that utilize physical strength, and there may be weapons with specific advantages against humans or vampires.

During the day, Coen's vampiric abilities are unavailable, but he can utilize hexes or magic, fueled by activation charges earned through successful combat actions.
