Master Crossover 2 and 2Fort in Team Fortress Classic! Learn strategies for each class, capture the flag tactics, and sniper spots to dominate the enemy.

This section covers strategies for the maps Crossover 2 and 2Fort in Team Fortress Classic, focusing on capture the flag objectives and class-specific roles.

Crossover 2 - "Control the Bridge"

Crossover 2 is a capture the flag map similar to 2Fort. Most classes are effective here, with the exception of Pyro.

Scout: The primary strategy is to reach the bridge, jump into the water below, and swim through the underwater passage to the enemy base. Be aware of the elevator near the flag that leads to health. For escape, skilled players can conc.jump to the front yard or into the gate of the underwater passage. Other escape routes include the conveyor belt or stairs behind the flag, with the conveyor belt generally being the better option. Be cautious of Sentries (SGs) throughout the enemy base. If the Demoman has opened the passage through rock, use it to return to your base, preferably via the water to avoid enemies on the bridge. If enemies are on the bridge, use your own underwater tunnel.

Sniper: While not ideal for snipers, effective spots include the Sniper balcony (near your CP), the building with the elevator, both sides of the middle bridge, the roof of your main complex, and the gateway to the enemy base for offensive sniping.

Medic: Medics are excellent for capturing the flag due to their conc. and normal grenades. Head to the enemy base, eliminate SGs, and use conc.jumps to escape.

Engineer: SGs are effective everywhere Snipers are. Recommended building locations include next to the flag, across from the flag (near the lowest respawn), under the underwater passage exit, within the underwater passage, in the health-backpack area near your flag, on the raised platform near the top of the conveyor belt ramp, near your upper-most respawn, in the passage opened by the Demoman, near the stairs to your flag, and in the yard near your base entrance.

Spy: Focus on eliminating enemy SGs.

2Fort - "Home of the Evil Camping Soldiers"

2Fort is another capture the flag map known for heavy defense, often featuring Heavies and SGs on enemy ramps, and Soldiers in the basement. It is considered a very hospitable map for Snipers, often used for tryouts. Unlike other CTF maps, most classes have a decent chance of capping the flag, with power being as valuable as speed due to the firepower needed to escape with the flag.

Scout: Scouts are less effective if the enemy has strong defenses, especially a Soldier in the basement. The best ways to access the enemy base are via conc.jump to the balcony or using the underwater route. Avoid crossing the bridge directly due to its vulnerability to Snipers. Medics are recommended for flag captures.

Sniper: 2Fort is excellent for skilled Snipers. Key spots are the sniper balcony and below it. Limited hiding spots emphasize quick shooting. Other 'clever' spots include the top of the elevator area, across from the water passage to your base, and next to the small ramps of the enemy base for cross-bridge sniping. Skilled Snipers can dominate the balcony and significantly influence the match outcome.

Soldier: Defensive Soldier play in the basement, rocket-jumping enemies who descend, is very effective. If enemies reach the flag, defend the ramp leading out of the flag area, or throw grenades into it. Soldiers are often most effective in the basement on this map. If not playing defensively, follow standard Soldier strategies, with a critical exception noted for further discussion.
