Learn how to unlock and equip various Mii Fighter outfits and headgear in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, including methods like the Vault Shop, Classic Mode, and Challenges.

There are numerous ways to unlock new outfits and headgear for Mii Fighters in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. These cosmetic items can be obtained through various methods, including purchasing them from the Vault Shop, as random rewards for completing Classic Mode, found as treasure in Adventure Mode, bought as DLC from the Nintendo eShop, or earned by completing challenges. As of Ver. 5.0.0, outfits and headgear can also be obtained from the Home-Run Contest. Some pieces have unique unlock conditions, while others can be acquired in multiple ways. The tables below detail which pieces can be collected, their unlock conditions, and which Mii Fighter types can wear them. Before customizing your Mii, you must first create a Mii Fighter.

Vault Shop

Many outfits and headgear can be purchased from the Vault Shop, accessible via Vault → Shop. The currency used is gold, which can be earned in modes like Smash, Adventure, or Classic Mode. Once an item is bought, its slot in the shop becomes sold out. After approximately 10 minutes of in-game time, a new item will restock. The shop offers discounts on Sundays, providing an opportune time to purchase more items.

Create a Mii Fighter

To create a Mii Fighter, navigate to Games & More → Mii Fighter → Create. Select the Mii you wish to edit and choose between a Brawler, Swordfighter, or Gunner, which affects their moves and outfit choices. The menu on the left allows you to assign a name, adjust headgear, outfit, color, special moves, and voice. The 'Random' button randomizes attributes (except name), while 'Test' initiates a practice match against Sandbag to evaluate moves and voice. Click 'Save' in the bottom right corner, enter the Mii's name, and click 'OK' to finalize. To create an actual Mii, return to the Nintendo Switch Home menu, go to System Settings → Mii, and follow the prompts.

Challenges

There are three challenges specifically related to Mii Fighters:

  • Mii Brawler Challenge: Create 3 Mii Fighters. Follow the steps in 'Create a Mii Fighter'. No adjustments are necessary; simply save and name the Mii twice more. Reward: Business Suit (Mii Outfit).
  • Rosalina & Luma Challenge: Get 10 types of Mii Headgear. Collect headgear from the Headgear table; the total does not include default items. Reward: Cat Hat (Mii Headgear).
  • Snake Challenge: Get 10 types of Mii Outfits. Collect outfits from the Outfits table; the total does not include default items. Reward: Cat Suit (Mii Outfit).

Outfits

Most outfits are restricted to specific Mii Fighter types (e.g., Skull Kid's Outfit for Mii Brawler). Many outfits have matching headgear for a complete look, though all headgear can be worn by any Mii type. Some outfits allow color changes within the Mii Fighter Settings for further customization.
