The big difference comes after you glide onto the ice lake. Instead of a ramp, you'll find a tunnel. You'll want to hit your 'roll' button and steer right into it. This takes you underground into a super straight, easy tunnel – perfect for hitting your top speed. When you pop back out, you're in a tundra with massive icy cliffs all around.

As soon as you're out in the open tundra, glance to your left. You'll see another path branching off on the map. You've got a choice here: take that path, or just keep going straight. I personally think the path is a little quicker, but it's not a huge difference – the race outcome probably won't hinge on this decision.

If you take the shortcut: You won't actually see a road leading off, so keep an eye on your map to know exactly when to peel off the main route. You'll be heading through this frozen landscape and then into an icy cliff area. This part can be a bit tricky because the turns are super tight. You might end up taking some serious engine damage if you bash into the canyon walls, so do your best to weave through. Eventually, this shortcut will merge back with the main road.

If you don't take the shortcut: Just keep cruising through the tundra, making sure to dodge any glaciers in your way. When the path starts to curve left, you'll go through a small ice ring and then straight into the canyon. The turns in this canyon aren't as sharp as the ones in the shortcut, making it a bit easier to navigate. Eventually, you'll see where the shortcut path joins up with yours.
