Objectives: Liberation

Master Sniper Elite 5's Liberation mission. Learn how to liberate the southern and northern towns, deal with enemy defenses, and take down the Tiger Tank.

Alright, let's dive into the 'Liberation' mission in Sniper Elite 5. This one's a real treat for us snipers, offering tons of great vantage points. The main goal here is to push inland by liberating the town, which will serve as a crucial rallying point for the US Rangers. If you play it smart, you can avoid most of the close-quarters chaos.

Primary Objective: Liberate the Southern town

The American Airborne got scattered by German flak cannons, so we need to secure this town to establish a command post for the US Rangers and push further inland. To do this, you'll need to:

• Neutralise Defences (x3): This includes taking out a sniper in a tower and disabling their communications from their Field HQ.
• Secure a crossing: You have two options here – either investigate the Western Bridge or the Eastern Bridge.
• Kill snipers (x3): Keep an eye out for enemy snipers trying to pick you off.

Primary Objective: Liberate the Northern town

Once the south is relatively clear, you'll move on to the northern part of the town. Your tasks here are:

• Investigate the town.
• Connect the Barricade explosives.
• Destroy the Tiger Tank.

Hint: Look for Panzerfausts scattered around; they'll make taking down that Tiger a lot easier. Remember, you can only damage the tank effectively from the rear. We found that even a few missed shots still did enough damage, but we had to get up close and personal, avoiding its main guns, to hit its exposed engine with an armour-piercing round. Honestly, it was way more satisfying that way!

Optional Objectives

Don't forget these, as they can give you an edge:

• Investigate the crashed glider site and locate the Radio operator: You'll need to investigate the trenches first.
• Neutralise Anti-Air guns (x3): These can be a real pain if left unchecked.
• Defuse Bridge explosives: Make sure these don't go off.

Hint: For the radio operator, you can blow open the bunker door. However, if you clear out all the Germans in the trenches, you'll find an officer carrying the bunker key on him.

Kill List Target

Your special assignment is to find and eliminate Jaan Trautmann. He's a three-star general, so taking him down is a significant achievement.
