Welcome to Smite! As a new player, the world of gods, abilities, and strategic combat can seem daunting. ease your transition into the game, covering the fundamental concepts you'll need to understand to begin your journey. Smite is a third-person action MOBA where you control a god from various mythologies and battle against other players and AI-controlled minions. The primary game mode, Conquest, is played on a three-lane map with a jungle area in between.

Your primary objective in Conquest is to destroy the enemy team's Titan, located within their base. To do this, you'll need to push through lanes, destroy enemy towers, and defeat opposing gods. Each god has a unique set of four abilities, plus a passive ability, that define their playstyle. Understanding your god's abilities and how they synergize with your teammates' abilities is key to success. You'll also earn gold and experience by defeating enemy minions, gods, and jungle camps, which you'll use to purchase items that enhance your god's stats and grant new passive or active effects.

Communication is vital in Smite. While the Voice Pack & VGS System (detailed elsewhere) is crucial, even basic communication through pings and simple VGS commands can make a significant difference. Pay attention to the minimap; it provides vital information about enemy positions, objectives, and potential ganks. Learning to ward effectively, even with basic ward placements, will give your team crucial vision and prevent surprise attacks. Don't be afraid to experiment with different gods and roles in modes like Arena or Joust to get a feel for the game before diving into the complexities of Conquest.
