First things first

First, you should complete the tutorial to learn the basics. Then, go explore the Far Far Range. Use your vacpack (a tool to suck up and spit out slimes and items) to interact with the environment.

It is recommended to start by collecting Pink Slimes, Rock Slimes, and Tabby Slimes. Special slimes can be found by waiting until dark.

To create new slime types, feed a slime a different plort (the valuable drops slimes produce). Be cautious: if a slime eats two different plorts, it will become a Tarr. Tarrs are dangerous, aggressive slimes that consume other slimes.

To produce plort, feed a slime its preferred food. Some slimes are picky and will only eat meat or vegetables, but Pink Slimes will eat anything.

You will need to keep your slimes contained within a corral. You can purchase a corral by spending a few newbucks (the in-game currency) at the ranch's buttons.

Tips

Wait until dark to find special slimes.
Pink Slimes are not picky eaters.

Protection

Tarr are enemies in Slime Rancher 2 that you will encounter when playing on Casual mode. They can be killed relatively easily.

Ways to kill Tarr:

Suck them up with your vacuum (a tool used to collect items and slimes) and launch them into the Slime Seas (a large body of water surrounding the islands).
Purchase the water vacuum upgrade. Use it to suck up water and then blast the Tarr twice to kill them.
Construct a water turret from the lab (a building where you can craft items).

You can detect the presence of Tarr by a change in the music; the happy music will shift to a scary and low tune, which stops once all Tarr are eliminated.

Warning: Be cautious, as Tarr have the ability to turn other slimes into more Tarr.

Tips

Listen for the music change to alert you to nearby Tarr.
