The Stalkers represent a significant escalation in combat encounters within Scorn, serving as relentless melee attackers that demand a more strategic approach than the smaller Grubs. These creatures are characterized by their swift, aggressive charges and their powerful, close-range strikes. When a Stalker spots the player, it will immediately initiate a charge, often accompanied by a guttural shriek. Dodging these charges is paramount. The game's dodge mechanic, while not explicitly telegraphed with a dedicated button prompt, is tied to movement and timing. A quick sidestep or a backward dash just as the Stalker lunges can effectively evade its attack. Following a successful dodge, the Stalker will often be momentarily disoriented, providing a crucial window to retaliate. The Shotgun is highly effective against Stalkers, especially when fired at point-blank range during their recovery period after a missed attack. A well-aimed blast can stagger them, allowing for follow-up shots or a tactical retreat. The Pistol can be used for sustained damage, but its lower stopping power makes it less ideal for quickly dispatching these aggressive foes.
