While Scorn does feature combat encounters, the game's des often presents opportunities for stealth and avoidance, particularly in the early stages and when facing overwhelming odds. The oppressive atmosphere and the scarcity of resources like ammunition encourage players to think beyond direct confrontation. Understanding enemy patrol patterns and the layout of the environment is key to successfully bypassing threats. For instance, in the initial areas of Act 1, you can often sneak past lone Scorned by utilizing cover and timing your movements carefully.

The game's intricate level des, with its numerous alcoves, shadows, and interconnected pathways, provides ample opportunities for evasion. When you hear the distinct sounds of approaching enemies, such as the lumbering gait of a Brute or the skittering of smaller creatures, take a moment to assess your surroundings. Is there a nearby vent you can crawl through? Can you duck behind a large piece of machinery? Utilizing these environmental features can allow you to avoid combat altogether, conserving precious ammunition and health. The puzzle involving the activation of the large crane in Act 2, for example, can be completed with minimal enemy engagement if approached with stealth.

It is important to note that Scorn does not feature a dedicated "stealth mode" or a visible detection meter.
