Learn how to set up Battles in Rock Band 2! Understand the set overview, song requirements, and how to view friend and global scores before you play.
Alright, so you're ready to dive into some of the more structured challenges in Rock Band 2, right? These are called 'Battles,' and before you jump into a set, there's a special screen that pops up to give you all the deets. Think of it as your pre-game huddle. This screen has four tabs, and we're gonna break 'em down so you know exactly what you're getting into.
Tab 1: The Battle Overview
This first tab gives you the lowdown on the Battle itself. You'll see the name of the Battle, a quick description, and then the important stuff: Limitations and Allowances. Pay close attention to anything listed in red under 'Limitations' – that means you or your band don't meet that requirement, and you won't be able to play the set. Don't sweat it though, most Battles can be played if you've got a full band of four players.
Tab 2: The Song List
This is where you'll see all the tracks you'll need to play for this specific Battle. Most Battles will have around three songs, but some can go up to six! Here's a crucial point: everyone in your band must own every single song listed for the Battle. This includes any downloadable content (DLC) or tracks from the original Rock Band 1. If even one person is missing a song, the set is a no-go for the whole band. Make sure everyone's on the same page with their music library!
Tabs 3 & 4: Scoreboards!
The third and fourth tabs are all about bragging rights and seeing how you stack up. The third tab shows you the bands your friends are rocking with (if you're on Xbox Live) and what scores they've managed to hit on that set. The fourth tab? That's the big leagues – it lists all the scores that have ever been posted for that set, ranked from top to bottom. If you wanna scroll through this epic list of players and their scores, just hit the 'A' button (that's your green fret or drum pad) and you can scroll down to see who's the best of the best.
