Comprehensive guide and walkthrough for Resident Evil 3 (Remake) on PS4, covering all difficulty levels, collectibles, and trophies. Master Raccoon City's horrors.

Resident Evil 3 Remake is a companion game to the Resident Evil 2 Remake released in 2019 and a re-imagining of the 1999 original. Like the RE2Make, the production values of the RE3Make are sky-high, the RE Engine once more showing itself to be as good as any game engine out there. Criticism has been levelled at the RE3Make principally for two reasons. The removal of some areas from the original game has led some to label this a "Demake" while - inevitably - the game has been further criticised for dumbing down. Compared to 2, there is less of a focus on survival and far less of a focus on puzzles. Instead, the focus appears to be on pacing - RE3 runs along at a white-knuckle pace from start to finish. One assumes that pacing is the reason for dropping the Clock Tower and Park areas since the game was clearly not made on a shoestring. Criticisms have also been levelled at the treatment of the titular Nemesis who menaces you only during fixed sequences rather than continuously. Personally, I prefer the treatment in _this_ game. Getting chased all the time gets old quickly.

There is a walkthrough for each of the five difficulty levels. The "Assisted / Standard" walkthrough is both for those new to the game and for those looking for collectibles and points out the locations of all files, weapons, weapon parts and bobble-head dolls in the game. I do not simply give you the combinations for the game's handful of safes - instead I tell you where the combinations are to be found. If you prefer the "authentic" Resident Evil experience for your first playthrough, select Standard difficulty. Without assists and infinite ammo weapons, Standard difficulty is much closer to Survival Horror and you will need to keep an eye on ammo and choose which enemies to kill and which to run past. If you're searching for collectibles and killing zombies with Handguns, you are probably not going to complete the game in the time necessary to achieve an S-rank. Not going for S-rank means that you can make as many manual saves as you like and doing so means that you won't get stuck in an unwinnable autosave.

The "Hardcore" walkthrough assumes access to the shop and the Rocket Launcher. Shop items make this the easiest difficulty and, since you don't have to backtrack for files and bobbleheads, a playthrough is pretty quick as well. I point out healing item locations but not ammo and gunpowder / explosives. You _can_ choose Hardcore difficulty for your first playthrough. If you want to do this, follow the Standard difficulty walkthrough and be prepared to die a lot.

Beating Hardcore difficulty unlocks "Nightmare". This is significantly different to Hardcore in terms of enemy and item placement. Again I assume access to shop items which means that it's not _that_ difficult. This time you'll probably want defence and health regeneration items along with the Rocket Launcher.

Finally, you will unlock "Inferno" difficulty. Unless you're going for the Platinum or you're streaming on Twitch, I would recommend that you skip this since it is rather masochistic with horrible difficulty spikes. Besides the increase in difficulty, it is a very similar experience to Nightmare.

S-rank requires you to complete the game quickly (generally two hours or less) while making no more than five manual saves. If you complete the game in the time required but make more than five manual saves, you will receive an A-rank. If you exceed the time allowed, you will receive a B-rank.
