Hunter Strategy

Alright, so you've made it to Hunter, the Arena Lord of Tier 2, and she's waiting for you on the map The Proving Grounds (q3tourney2). This map is a mix of big open areas, tight stairways, and those tricky teleporters, so keep your eyes peeled. Hunter really hates the Sorg for wrecking her home world on Tau Ceti, and her main goal is to wipe them out. She's tough, but we can figure her out.

Hunter's got a real soft spot for the Lightning Gun, and she's scary good with it. She likes to switch between weapons quickly, but if you get too close, watch out! She'll whip out the Shotgun and blast you with pellets. At mid-range, her Lightning Gun skills are deadly accurate.

If she runs out of ammo or you try to keep your distance, you'll probably feel the sting of her Machinegun. When the Lightning Gun is empty, she'll switch to the Rocket Launcher. She's actually better with the Rocket Launcher than the Lightning Gun, but she still prefers the beam weapon.

Beating Hunter

To take her down on her home turf, try to grab all the Light Armor you can find on the map. Keep the Lightning Gun spawn point and the teleporter bridge secure. A good move is to dive for the teleporter in the middle of the map.

At lower difficulties, she's not too bad, but crank it up and she'll rush you with the Lightning Gun, which can be a shock! Controlling the teleporters and fighting in the main area can help push her back.

Be warned: Hunter is pretty accurate with her Machinegun on higher difficulties. Trying to respawn kill her can cost you a lot of armor. Your best bet is to keep vital areas under control using the teleporters, grab all the armor, and try to keep her away from the Lightning Gun. Use the Rocket Launcher to pressure the Lightning Gun area if needed.

If you need to buy some time for the next Light Armor to spawn, try holding one of the smaller back rooms near the LG-bridge area, or hang out on top of the stairway from the center hall. If you spot her on the stairs, try to position yourself near the LG area during the fight. She might respawn there and surprise you!

Even if you can't use the Lightning Gun yourself, don't let her surprise you with it. If you're struggling, don't get discouraged. Hunter is one of the toughest bots in the game, and she'll really test your accuracy. If you miss, she won't hesitate to use it against you.
