Learn how to progress through courses in Pokemon Sleep, unlock new items like Fluffruit and Illumina Orbs, and understand the XP system.
The story of Pokemon Sleep is linear, guiding you through courses within different areas. Advancement is achieved by earning Research Points (XP) and completing each course. Once a course is finished, you can revisit it anytime. Initial stages involve tutorials on taking pictures, camera movement, and zooming. While in a course, you travel in the Neo-One vehicle on a fixed path. You cannot stop, so focus on taking the best pictures possible to earn XP. Increasing XP can alter courses by revealing new Pokémon, phenomena, changing Pokémon locations, and opening alternative pathways to different areas.
Some courses have both Day Time and Night Time versions, which can feel distinct. Certain Pokémon appear only during the day or night, while others are present in both. Some Pokémon may even change form between Day and Night. It is recommended to level up research via XP in each course to experience these changes.
As you progress through tutorials, you will unlock the scanner. This tool emits a pulse around your vehicle, highlighting points of interest with an on-screen prompt. Hovering your camera over a point of interest and holding the X button scans it, revealing information. These points of interest can often be interacted with by taking photos or tossing Fluffruit. Experiment with them when discovered.

Unlock Details: Illumina Spot - The Illumina Spot
Prerequisite: Complete The Park (Night Time)
Unlock Details: Fluffruit & LenTalk Requests
Upon completing these initial courses, you will unlock Fluffruit and LenTalk Requests.
Fluffruit is a fruit, similar to an apple, that can be thrown at Pokémon. If thrown close enough, Pokémon may stop to eat it. This can result in different poses, potentially earning a 2-Star Snap rating, and keeps the Pokémon still for easier photographing. Hitting Pokémon with Fluffruit can stun them momentarily, also changing their pose. Some Pokémon react differently, while others may not react at all. You have an unlimited supply of Fluffruit.
LenTalk Requests are a list of tasks from NPCs, asking you to photograph specific Pokémon or events. These requests can be explicit or vague. Completing them can yield rewards such as Titles and Stickers. They can be accessed from the upper right of the main hub at any time.

Remember to scan often to find alternate paths.
Completing these levels unlocks the Illumina Orbs and the Melody Player. Illumina Orbs are obtained by photographing Crystablooms when they are glowing (in Illumina Form). After presenting the Snap to the professor, you receive the orbs. Each area has specific colored orbs: Blue Orbs work on Florio Island levels, and Yellow Orbs work on Belusylva Island levels. Like Fluffruit, you have an unlimited supply. Throwing Illumina Orbs at Pokémon makes them glow, sometimes altering their behavior for better Snaps. For instance, a Fire-Type Pokémon's flames might turn blue. You can also throw them at unlit Crystablooms to illuminate them and the surrounding area. Experiment by throwing them at everything.
The Melody Player functions similarly to the Pokeflute from older games. When played, it lasts for a few seconds (or can be stopped sooner). It can cause sleeping Pokémon to wake up, make other Pokémon dance, or even cause some to emerge from hiding spots.
