Learn how to defeat Astroth in Omikron: The Nomad Soul. Only the Power Rod damages this demon, and you must destroy blue orbs to free him.
Walkthrough
- 1Upon entering Hamastag'n, locate the book in the center.
- 2Find the three ghost NPCs. The first is down the ramp to the right of the book, through a door. The second is down the next ramp, to the left.
- 3To find the third ghost NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you), slide down the wall to the right of the book, climb the long ramp along the back wall to a dead end with a medikit. Jump off the edge onto the roof below, then jump in front of it to find the last door.
- 4Warning: Opening an incorrect door will release a hostile spirit that fires projectiles; run away from these.
- 5Return to the book with the three ghost NPCs present. Stand in the middle of them to be transported to a snowy area.
- 6Locate and use the save point.
- 7Walk forward until you see a flying ship and descend. You can collect three magic rings by going around the outside, but they are not essential.
- 8Stand on a nearby block to be taken to stairs. Jump over and enter to speak with Kushulai´n.
- 9After Kushulai´n dies, touch him to collect the Barkayal.
- 10Go behind the seat and through the teleporter.
- 11Follow the road and SAVE HERE as this is the last save point in the game.
- 12Proceed to the final confrontation with Astroth.
Boss: Astroth
HP: 200
Note: Only the Power Rod damages Astroth, as he is a demon and waiver weapons are ineffective. You do not need rings for this fight.
Strategy:
- Astroth is initially chained down. Run behind the building-like structure and shoot the blue restraints. They are in accessible locations, except for one.
- You must run out (strafe) and shoot the blue restraint to the right of Astroth.
- Once all restraints are destroyed, Astroth will be free.
- To damage Astroth, you must shoot his back.
- When you approach him, he will jump. Run through him, turn around (while continuing to run, as he will jump back), and shoot his back. He will then turn slowly. This method is recommended for the end of the fight, as landing after running through him can cause minor injury.
- Alternatively, shoot him in the head to stun him, then run around him, continuing to shoot his head to maintain the stun. This is less reliable later in the fight as he recovers quickly.
- When Astroth's HP drops below half (100 HP), he will become more aggressive. Maintain your strategy but increase your pace.
Tips
- The three ghost NPCs can be tricky to find; pay close attention to the descriptions.
- The final save point is crucial, as there are no others afterward.
- The magic rings found before the stairs are not very useful at this stage of Omikron: The Nomad Soul.
- Be prepared for intense mouse movement during the final phase of the Astroth fight.
