Master the Snowfall Mountain challenges in Mario Tennis Aces, from clearing Shy Guys to defeating the Snow Ogre boss. Get the Ice Racket and claim your Power Stone!
You've collected two Power Stones so far, now it's time to get another one. After leaving Mirage Mansion, continue on your journey by following the path down the hill and up to Snowfall Mountain Station.
When you arrive, you're told that you can't board the train at the moment because some Shy Guys commandeered the train. Clear them out to continue.
Snowball Fight
Objective: Get rid of the Shy Guys who commandeered the train. Difficulty: Easy
In keeping with the theme thus far, each first stage of a new area requires you to prove your worth. In this case, you need to clear out some menacing Shy Guys. This challenge isn't really difficult. Use Zone Shots to individually target the Shy Guys, especially the ones inside the train. When you clear out the first 16, the second part of the train will arrive.
The purple Shy Guys on either side of the barrel will throw a charged snowball at you. Return this with the proper timing as usual. Otherwise, the second part of the train is the same.
The last part of the train yields a large Shy Guy on top of the train engine that throws charged snowballs at you. Simply hitting him with a snowball once won't remove him, so hit him a couple more times to make him disappear. Get rid of the last seven Shy Guys and you'll complete this challenge.
It appears that the train has stopped at the base of the mountain. Not surprisingly, it's a perfect location for you to complete another challenge.
One Versus...One?
Objective: Defeat the Shy Guy while dodging the passengers. Match Details: Two-game, three-set match Difficulty: Easy
Time for another tennis match-based challenge! This one takes place on a seemingly normal court, but there's a twist. During each point, a pack of bustling Goombas, Koopas, and Shy Guys will run across the court, potentially disrupting your shots. What's more is that if your shot goes towards one of the Shy Guy passengers, they'll whip out a racket and return it to where the shot came from!
With the differences noted, there's nothing else extraordinary about this tennis match. Shy Guy has a fairly slow reaction time, so it's pretty easy to keep the ball away from him and have the upper hand for each point. Be cautious of his Zone Shots though, because they're easy to fake you out. Counter these with Zone Speed, if you can.
When you defeat Shy Guy, you're able to proceed up the mountain, but stop by the nearby village first.
Station Square
This challenge is similar to the one you faced at Forest Edge. Your goal is to hit 25 shots past Shy Guy without missing more than three shots.
Sure Shot Challenge (Intermediate)
Objective: Hit 25 shots past your opponent with fewer than three misses. Difficulty: Easy
Just as before, this challenge shouldn't pose too many problems. Be mindful of where Shy Guy is located and hit the ball into a location that's difficult for him to reach. The Charged Shots should be returned with the proper timing, as usual. Otherwise, this challenge is straightforward and shouldn't take very long to complete.
Once finished, take the train farther up the mountain to your next challenge. You'll see a challenge spot not far from Station Square, so stop there.
Snowfall Mountainside
We're starting to see recurring themes with the challenges you encounter. This one is another panel challenge.
Panel Challenge (Intermediate)
Objective: Score 800 points within the time limit Difficulty: Moderate
Like before, each row of panels offers a different point value. Stack up your point total by using Zone Shots to target multiple panels to maximize bonus points. The star panels will trigger the appearance of a Star Point, and the Bowser panels will trigger a Charge Shot to come towards you, which must be returned properly.
Score the required 800 points within the time limit to complete the objective, which will reward you with the Ice Racket. Equip this bad boy, because even though you just got the Mirror Racket recently, the Ice Racket is considerably stronger in all aspects.
Hop back on the train and continue up the mountain.
Snowfall Mountain Summit
You've reached the top of Snowfall Mountain, where you're immediately pit against your next boss: Snow Ogre.
Snow Ogre Showdown
Objective: Defeat the boss of Snowfall Mountain within the time limit Difficulty: Moderate
Another boss stands between you and another Power Stone. Like the previous boss battles, you'll need to deplete Snow Ogre's health bar to take a jab at removing a heart. This battle, however, is a bit trickier than the others. Almost every shot that Snow Ogre returns to you is a Charge Shot, so you'll need to be mindful to hit the ball at the proper time. Use Zone Speed to help with this.
Be careful of the other hand as well. While you're rallying, the other hand will come up and try to hit you, which will result in a loss of time towards your time limit.
When Snow Ogre's health bar is depleted, a Star Point will appear, and you'll need to target the eye on the hand that's on the ground. To make matters more complicated, the other hand will serve as a shield for the other, blocking your shot. Use a Zone Shot to clear the shielding hand, then quickly run to the next Star Point and use a Zone Shot to hit the eye of the other hand to remove a heart.
Snow Ogre will raise some ice columns on the side of the "court" and conjure some ice blocks to slide towards you. Dodge them using Trick Shots to avoid losing time towards your time limit.
When the battle resumes, repeat the process. After depleting the health bar a second time, you'll need to hit the shielding hand twice to get a clear shot at th
