A Shining Tree: Prologue

Follow this guide to find the Shining Tree in Little Witch in the Woods. Learn how to navigate the forest, overcome obstacles, and progress through the prologue.

Alright, so you've just stepped off the train and the crew is telling you it's blocked by some prickly vines. Good news for you, that means you've got the whole night to explore! Let's go find that Shining Tree.

First things first, head north between the two train carriages. You'll run into a tall cliff, but don't worry, there are vines hanging down that you can climb. You can't just go straight up, so you'll need to weave your way up the cliff face by following the vines to the sides.

Once you're at the top, follow the path into a new area. Keep heading north, and you'll find a 'secret passageway' through the trees. Your next obstacle will be some vines blocking the path. Virgil (that's the hat, by the way!) will explain that these Little Honey Pumpkin weeds can only be cleared by destroying the plant's nucleus. You'll find the nucleus in a small alcove to your left. Once you destroy it, the weeds will dissipate, and you can continue on your way.

You'll then enter the Green Forest Plains. You'll also unlock the ability to sprint here by holding down the controller icon button. You'll see some apple bushes nearby – shaking them will give you apples, which restore a bit of stamina, but they aren't super important right now. Virgil will be on your case about finding the Shining Tree, so just keep heading north. Look for a ramp in the northwestern area that leads up to Green Forest Plateau. Keep following the ramps, vines, and ladders upwards as you continue north.

Eventually, you'll hit a big fence made of spears. Don't worry, there's a glowing key symbol on the ground in front of it. This is called a Witch's Pattern. When you interact with it, the barrier will lower, letting you pass through!

Take the stairs up to the mountain summit. There it is – the Shining Tree, covered in Blue Moon Butterflies! After a little chat about how amazing it is, you'll be prompted to explore more and fill up your codex. This wraps up 'The Shining Tree' quest and kicks off the 'In Search for a Curious Creature' main quest. Congrats, you're on your way!
