Walkthrough
- 1Watch the opening cutscenes of Rost climbing the Sacred Mountain and Aloy's naming ritual, followed by a scene six years later where Aloy is shunned.
- 2Follow the tunnel into the cave and crouch (press ) through the gap into an old-world lab.
- 3Continue left down the stairs and through a vault door.
- 4Proceed through the next room, up the stairs, and drop down to interact with a spotlighted corpse to obtain the Focus.
- 5Toggle the Focus on and off by pressing . The Focus is an instrumental device that will allow you to see things others can't. It is a major component of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered's gameplay.
- 6Go upstairs to a closed door. Use the Focus and look right, following the pipes, to see a Code Nexus and a Holo Lock control terminal.
- 7Circle back to the room with controls, approach the Holo Lock, and match its circle to the circle on the Code Nexus to unlock the door.
- 8Head through the now-open door. Scan the datapoint on the left wall (a small icon next to holograms) and press to play [AD08] For Director Evans.
- 9Continue through the next door and down the stairs.
- 10Head forward to find a corpse with another datapoint. Scan it for a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) and [HD01] Happy Birthday Isaac!.
- 11Squeeze through the gap at the back of the room.
- 12Before continuing up the stairs, head right and grab [AD06] Log: Connor Chasson off the desk.
- 13Continue past the desk to the next room and find [AD07] Full Stop on a corpse in the corner.
- 14Backtrack to the stairs and continue up to a barracks room.
- 15In the barracks, find the following datapoints: [AD01] Log: Connor Chasson (immediately left), [AD02] Log: Skylar Rivera (in a bunk to the right), [AD05] Log: Mia Sayied (up short steps, to the left), [AD03] Log: Ella Pontes (in a bunk at the back), and [AD04] Log: Jackson Frye (on the couch on the right).
- 16Continue through the next door and follow Rost's voice to an opening.
- 17Climb out to trigger a cutscene with Rost and Aloy, initiating the 'Lessons of the Wild' quest.
- 18Follow Rost to a Slavebrush plant and gather it using . Press to heal yourself with medicine.
- 19Collect any herbs you find to fill your medicine gauge.
- 20Follow Rost until he stops and crouches. Crouch with him (press ) and follow him into tall grass.
- 21After the cutscene, follow Rost through bushes, sneaking past Watchers.
- 22Follow Rost to trigger a cutscene with Teb.
- 23Follow Rost to a herd of Striders and gather three stones when instructed.
- 24Follow Rost up to a ledge for a cutscene, then jump down into long grass.
- 25Wait for Rost's signal, then press and hold to take aim with a rock. Throw it to lure a Watcher close enough for Rost to kill.
- 26Jump down and move through the long grass to rejoin Rost.
- 27Hold to harvest the dead Watcher.
- 28Gather Ridgewood from three trees to craft arrows.
- 29Open the weapon wheel (press ), select Hunter Arrow (using ), hold twice to craft 20 Hunter Arrows.
- 30Follow Rost into tall grass near the Striders.
- 31Use your Focus to scan a Strider and highlight the canister weak point on its back. After you scan an enemy for the first time, an entry will appear in Aloy's Notebook detailing the enemy's weak points along with an specific elemental weakness the enemy has (Tear, Fire, etc.). You can access the Notebook entry by pressing when the notification pops up.
- 32Take aim with at the canister weak point and hold to draw and fire an arrow.
- 33Keep firing, aiming for the eye, until the Strider goes down. Dodge with if it charges.
- 34After defeating the Strider, follow Rost to a cutscene where Teb falls.
- 35Jump down into tall grass to rescue Teb.
- 36Activate your Focus and use to tag the enemy.
