This chapter begins with Ethan dealing with the grief of losing a second son, while Norman Jayden starts his new role at the police headquarters. You'll find him waiting outside the commissioner's office to speak with Captain Perry. While waiting, you can use ARI to play a simple virtual game.

When Perry appears, he'll ask you to follow him to a press conference. Along the way, he may ask for help tying his necktie. This involves a sequence of button presses and controller movements: hold R1 and L1, tap left, rotate counterclockwise from the left, counterclockwise from the right, clockwise from the left, clockwise from the bottom, and finally tug the controller downward. You can skip this if you wish, and Perry will simply compliment you.

You have a choice: attend the press conference with Perry or speak with his secretary to get settled into your office. Before settling in, Jayden will notice a watch on the secretary's desk and have the option to donate towards an officer's promotion present.

Follow the secretary to your new office. You'll need to rearrange it by clearing the desk with analog stick movements and mashing [X] to push it forward. Once seated, use ARI to enter your virtual office.

The ARI system allows you to manipulate virtual files and change your real-world environment to a virtual one. In this chapter, you can choose one of four backgrounds: an autumn forest, a mesa overlooking a rainforest, the bottom of the sea, or the surface of Mars. After selecting a background, clear the screen with a right shove and begin analyzing files.

Start by opening files on the Origami Killer's previous victims and modus operandi. While you can't solve the case yet, you can analyze and geoanalyze the files and clues for insights into the killer's methods.

When you're ready to exit ARI, press [X]. Jayden will immediately experience triptocaine withdrawal. You can either give in to the withdrawal by pressing [O] and taking a dose, or resist by pressing [X] and heading to the bathroom. To reach the bathroom, hold [Square] to walk forward and open the door.

The story then shifts to Ethan Mars, who is reporting his son's disappearance to the police. Lieutenant Blake will ask for details about the disappearance. To earn the "Got to Remember!" Trophy, answer the following correctly: when asked for the time, say 4:15 p.m.; when asked about Shaun's clothing, say he wore a beige coat and green pants. All three correct answers correspond to the [X] button. You can answer other questions as you see fit. The chapter concludes with Ethan watching events unfold.
