Learn how to build a Hatchery in Grounded 2, gather necessary resources like Weed Stems and Acorn Shells, and hatch your first Red Soldier Ant Egg.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Build the Hatchery: Open your build menu, select the Hatchery, and place it anywhere. You will need the following materials:
    • Weed Stem x6
  2. 2
    Acorn Top x1
  3. 3
    Acorn Shell x5
  4. 4
    Mite Fuzz x5
  5. 5
Retrieve the Red Soldier Ant Egg: The Hatchery quest will lead you to the Southern Anthill to find the Red Soldier Ant Egg. This quest can be difficult; prepare with new weapons, armor, and bandages. After taking the egg, worker ants will become hostile. Crafting Ant Bait with Weevil Meat can help.
  6. 6
Prepare the Nest: Once you have the Red Soldier Ant Egg, return it to your Hatchery. You will need the following to create the nest:
    • 2x Grub Hides (obtained by digging up grubs with a Shovel)
  7. 7
    3x Sprig
  8. 8
    1x Acorn Shell
  9. 9
Hatch the Egg: Place the prepared nest and egg in the Hatchery. It will take 12 hours to hatch. You can sleep to speed up the process.
  10. 10
Utilize Your New Friend: Once hatched, your new companion can be used as a mount, for item storage, gathering, chopping dead roots, and fighting enemies. Be careful not to let it fight overly strong enemies, as it can die. You can store it in an Ant Hill building when not in use.

What to place in the Hatchery:

  • Red Soldier Ant: Found in the Southern Anthill Entrance.
  • Orb Weaver: Purchase for 5000 Raw Science after obtaining the Network Center Turbo Optical Disk.
  • Ladybug: Coming in the Winter patch (method unknown).
  • Water Buggies: Coming in the Summer Update (method unknown).

Other buggies may be added in future patches.
