    Flip the lever and defeat the mawkeeper (a type of monster) to the southeast. Leave the doors open in this configuration.

    Deploy Stone Golems (monster minions) towards the north before dealing with the mawkeeper in the central south lane.

    Once the south lane is cleared, direct any remaining monster medals to face south of the statue.

    Race through to the northwest mawkeeper, as two more gates will appear to the south and southwest.

    Defeat these gates in the order they appear.

    Another northwestern gate will materialize; if the doors were only flipped once, you will have ample time to intercept it.
Tips
  • Aurora players should work towards Blizzard Slash Strengthener before the end of this chapter.
  • When eight mawkeepers appear in the order: southwest, northeast, northwest, and southeast, then northeast again (with a killing machine), southwest, and finally simultaneously northwest (archdemon) & southeast (another archdemon), remember that a well-aimed coup de grâce (a powerful finishing move) can cut through walls and take out the mawkeeper behind them.
  • A well-planned coup de grâce will also clear approaching monsters.
  • Play with the doors if you see fit.
  • In The Maze of Scales, there are a ton of monsters. It may be worth considering deliberately failing the quest to get some easy gold if you're behind on your equipment.
  • Having some resistances against being incapacitated (such as sleep) may help, but isn't essential.
  • Freeze Resistance will help against some Mawkeepers and is recommended for post-game content.
  • Relentlessly pursue mawkeepers and place monster minion medals at chokepoints rather than on top of the statue.
  • Holding your defensive position against every mawkeeper's summon until they exhaust their forces is a less practical option.

  • A coup de grâce will daze the Serpent of the Scales, allowing you to attack freely.
  • Aurora can freeze the Serpent of the Scales with Frost Slash.
  • The Darkling can Warp (sink into the floor to reappear elsewhere; lock on to track its location) and use Zam (fires three orbs of darkness that poorly home in; roll or block them).
