Learn how to increase your Training Level, pass Advancement Tests, and unlock skills from instructors in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2's Patroller Academy. Master the system!
The Patroller Academy and its instructors in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 are primarily tied to the Training Level system and learning new skills. While the academy itself has limited direct interaction, understanding the Training Level and Advancement Tests is crucial for progression and unlocking the full potential of instructors.
Training Level
Training Level is a rank that determines which classes you can take with instructors. You start as a 'Beginner' and increase your Training Level by completing quests, with more difficult quests filling the gauge faster. You can check your Training Level and rank in the 'play data' option. When your Training Level gauge is full, you must pass an Advancement Test to increase your rank and unlock access to higher-level classes.
| Training Level | Class Level | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Beginner | Easy class | Get at the start |
| Intermediate | Intermediate class | Max out gauge and pass Easy class advancement test |
| Advanced | Advanced class | Max out gauge and pass Intermediate class advancement test |
| Kai | Kai class | Max out gauge and pass Advanced class advancement test |
| God | God class | Max out gauge and pass Kai class advancement test |
| Super | Super class | Max out gauge and pass God class advancement test |
Advancement Tests
Once your Training Level gauge is maxed, you can take an Advancement Test for your current rank. Passing these tests increases your rank. There are 5 main exams and 1 hidden exam, the 'Super class test,' which requires a Z rank in all other tests to unlock. Completing the Easy, Kai, and Super tests each award a trophy. Passing the Super class test grants the 'Potential Awaken' Awoken skill, also needed for a trophy.
Challenge Quests
Old Kai at Orange Star Highschool offers Challenge Quests, which are training missions requiring specific actions or combos. There are 13 in total, and completing all of them grants a trophy. Quests 12 and 13 are particularly difficult due to enemy combo recovery.
Instructors
Instructors are found throughout Conton City and act as mentors. Unlike in the previous game, you don't need to increase friendship meters; you simply talk to them to train. Each instructor offers up to 4 quests/classes, teaching a new skill. These training quests alter your skills and stats. You can choose to ask them to be your instructor, which allows them to comment on your fights or aid you in battle, and they will relocate to the fountain at the Patroller Academy. The primary limitation for learning skills is the required Training Level.
More instructors become available as you progress through the main story, with 25 instructors in total, offering 100 learnable skills. After passing an instructor's initiation test (if your rank is high enough), you receive one skill. Subsequent tests unlock more skills. Completing all four quests for all instructors earns a trophy. Instructor progress can be viewed in 'play data.'
