Boss: N. Cortex

Learn how to defeat N. Cortex in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. This guide covers the jetpack boss fight strategy and tips for victory.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• N. Cortex is vulnerable to your spin attack.
• He has no explicit HP bar shown, but three hits will defeat him.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: The Chase
   You'll be in the same jetpack you used in levels 22 and 24. Your objective is to catch up to Cortex.
2. Phase 2: The Attack
   Once you're close enough to Cortex, you'll need to hit him.
3. Phase 3: Victory
   After three successful hits, Cortex will be defeated, and the credits will roll.

Strategy:

• As soon as the fight starts, head forward and chase after Cortex.
• Keep an eye out for asteroids and mines floating in space. Hitting these will slow you down, making it harder to catch him, so do your best to avoid them.
• When you manage to catch up to Cortex, get close and use your spin attack.
• You need to hit him a total of three times. Each successful hit will damage him.
• After landing the third hit, the fight is over! You can then enjoy the ending cutscene.
• If you missed any gems on your first playthrough, this is a good time to go back and collect them. Finding all the gems will unlock access to the Secret Warp Room, which leads to another ending.
