This guide covers the various game modes available in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, including core modes, bonus playlists, hardcore options, ranked play, and classic playlists.
Core Game Modes
- Moshpit: A compilation of popular game modes and maps, updated on December 4th, 2014. Includes Kill Confirmed (Bio Lab), Team Deathmatch (Comeback), Hardpoint (Detroit), Unlink (Retreat), Riot, and Solar.
- Team Deathmatch: The main game mode where teams score points by killing enemy soldiers. The first team to reach 7500 points wins (100 points/XP per kill).
- Domination: Players capture and hold three designated positions on the map. The team with the most captured positions scores more points. The first team to reach a target score wins.
- Kill Confirmed: Similar to Team Deathmatch, but kills only count when the dropped dog tag is collected. Collecting enemy (red) dog tags earns a point, while collecting friendly (blue) dog tags negates a point for the enemy. The first to 65 points wins.
- Uplink: A new mode where players carry a Satellite Drone and score by throwing it into the enemy's goal (1 point) or jumping into the goal with the drone (2 points). The team with the higher score wins.
- Momentum: A new mode where 5 flags appear sequentially on the map. Teams capture flags, and the first team to capture all 5 scores a point. The team with the most points at the end of the timer wins.
- Hardpoint: A King-of-the-hill style mode where players score points by occupying small, temporary zones on the map. More players in a zone result in more points scored.
- Search and Destroy: An attack/defend mode where attackers plant a bomb and defenders defuse it. Players do not respawn after being killed, making each round a one-life scenario.
- Search and Rescue: Combines elements of Search and Destroy and Kill Confirmed. Killed players drop dog tags. Allies can pick up these tags to allow the fallen player to respawn.
- Capture the Flag: Players capture the enemy's flag and return it to their own territory to score. The team with the most captured flags wins.
- Free-for-all: A mode where each player is on their own. The first player to reach 30 points wins.
Bonus Playlist
- Infected: One player starts as infected, and kills turn other players into infected. The match ends when all players are infected.
- Atlas Gorge: A mix of game modes played on the Atlas Gorge map. This playlist was available for pre-order customers.
Hardcore Playlist
This playlist includes Hardcore versions of Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Search and Destroy. Key differences include the ability to shoot allies, no HUD, and increased damage, leading to faster player elimination.
Ranked Play
A moshpit of game modes specifically for players of similar ranking, intended to provide a more balanced competitive experience.
Classic Playlist
This playlist features Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Search and Destroy, but without exo-movement (dashing and other advanced movement mechanics), offering a traditional Call of Duty experience.
