Walkthrough
- 1Begin in a claustrophobic area. Defeat the Big Eye enemy that drops fireballs. Collect nearby candles.
- 2Proceed right, noting the acidic water that damages you and destroys blocks, potentially opening new paths. Head upwards.
- 3At a split path, the high ground leads to platforms with Mummy enemies who throw bandages. Continue up for a candle with a Pocket Watch.
- 4The lower path has Fireman enemies. If skipping the Pocket Watch, take the high path, kill the right Mummy, then drop down. Quickly defeat the Firemen. Collect a candle to the right for a big Heart, then head left to stairs. Wait for the Fireman's fire to extinguish before descending.
- 5Grab candles and head right, avoiding disintegrating blocks. You'll reach another split with two doors. The upper path is recommended, but either works as they converge later.
- 6(BLK 5-02) If you took the top path, you'll fight Slimes that bounce towards you. Whip them rapidly. The third candle contains a Dagger.
- 7The bottom screen has Fuzz Busters, which cannot be killed. Jump over them. Candles on this route contain big Hearts. Continue to the next block.
- 8(BLK 5-03) If you took the lower path, you must wait for acid to break blocks. If you took the upper path, you can choose the upper or lower door. Both paths merge in the next block.
- 9(BLK 5-04) Kill Firemen. To the right is a vertically-moving platform. Be cautious when jumping on and off.
- 10Choose one of two doors to the right. The upper path has a Fireman and a Money Bag candle. The lower path has a Fuzz Buster and Hearts. Both paths converge.
- 11(BLK 5-05) This block features spike beds. Many starting candles contain Hearts, useful before the upcoming boss.
- 12The upper path offers easier navigation over spike beds. On the lower path, wait for spikes to ascend fully before jumping.
- 13Carefully jump over three spike traps. More spike traps descend; wait for the second one to descend, jump on it, and walk off to drop safely. Head up the stairs.
- 14Navigate platforms with Fuzz Busters. Retreat and whip them to line them up if needed. Drop down and head up the stairs. The final candle contains an Axe.
- 15Use the platform to reach the upper screen. A Big Eye is present. Move left immediately. Collect Heart candles and head right to the boss arena.
Boss Fight: Alucard
Stats / Weaknesses:
- Alucard's primary attack is transforming into bats, reappearing to launch three fireballs.
- He can appear anywhere, but usually on the ground floor.
- Horizontal weapons like the Banshee Boomerang or Dagger are effective when aimed at his head height (level with blocks above the right door).
- The Axe is also decent with proper spacing.
- The whip can be used effectively by jumping, whipping his head, falling, kneeling, and whipping the fireballs.
Strategy:
- When Alucard appears, jump and whip his head, then fall back.
- Kneel and whip the fireballs. They spread out and always appear in threes.
- Be aware that Alucard can fire fireballs upwards; avoid being directly above him.
- Patience and good timing are key to defeating Alucard with the whip.
- Double Trouble or Triple Threat power-ups can also be used.
