General Strategies & Tips

• Projectile-Throwing Enemies: You'll primarily encounter Spiky Snifits and Lakitus in this level.
  • Spiky Snifits: These enemies often stand on ledges or behind obstacles, lobbing spiky balls. The best strategy is to either jump over their projectiles and ground pound them, or, more safely, use an egg to take them out from a distance. If they're on a higher ledge, aim your egg trajectory carefully.
  • Lakitus: These cloud-riding foes will drop Spiny enemies. Prioritize taking out the Lakitu first with an egg before dealing with any Spinies it drops. If you're low on eggs, a well-timed jump can bounce you off a Spiny to reach the Lakitu.
• Crumbling Platforms: Many platforms in this castle are made of fragile cardboard. They will break after a single touch. Plan your jumps carefully and don't linger. If you see a collectible on a crumbling platform, grab it quickly and move on.

Collectible Walkthrough

Smiley Flowers (6 Total)

1. Smiley Flower 1 (Early Ascent): After the first major vertical ascent where you encounter several Spiky Snifits, you'll reach a platform with a Question Mark Cloud. Hit this cloud to reveal a series of targets that appear briefly. Quickly hit all targets with eggs before they disappear. The targets are arranged in a small arc above the platform. Successfully hitting all of them will reward you with the first Smiley Flower.
2. Smiley Flower 2 (Moving Platform Puzzle): In the section with the intricate moving platforms that slide in and out of the wall, navigate to the topmost path. You'll need precise timing to jump between platforms. At the very end of this path, before dropping down, look for a hidden alcove to your left. Throw an egg at the background wall to reveal a hidden passage containing this Smiley Flower.
3. Smiley Flower 3 (Behind the Tapestry): After passing the first checkpoint, you'll enter a large room with a prominent tapestry depicting a castle crest. Instead of going straight, jump towards the tapestry and throw an egg at its center. It will tear, revealing a hidden room with a Winged Cloud. Hit the Winged Cloud to make the Smiley Flower appear.
4. Smiley Flower 4 (Target Gallery): Further into the level, you'll come across an area with a series of rotating gears and platforms. Look for a small, elevated platform that offers a clear view of several targets arranged in a semi-circle across a gap. These targets are only visible from this specific vantage point. You'll need to rapidly fire eggs to hit all of them before they retract. This requires quick aiming and a full egg stock. Successfully hitting all targets will spawn the Smiley Flower on the platform you're standing on.
5. Smiley Flower 5 (Secret Ground Pound): In a section with multiple layers of cardboard blocks, look for a stack of three distinctively patterned blocks near a bottomless pit. These blocks are slightly darker than the surrounding architecture. Perform a ground pound on the top block. This will cause the entire stack to collapse, revealing a hidden chamber below with the fifth Smiley Flower.
6. Smiley Flower 6 (End of Level Challenge): Just before the goal ring, you'll find a final challenge. There's a series of Flying Shy Guys carrying a large Smiley Flower. You'll need to hit each Flying Shy Guy with an egg as they fly across the screen. There are typically three or four of them. Successfully hitting all of them will cause the Smiley Flower to drop onto the path leading to the goal.

Red Coins (20 Total)

• Red Coins 1-4 (Initial Ascent): As you climb the first vertical section, look for coins scattered along the main path. Two are on small ledges, and two are above crumbling platforms.
• Red Coins 5-7 (Moving Platforms): In the section with the moving platforms, three Red Coins are strategically placed to encourage exploration of the different platform timings. One is on the lowest path, one on the middle, and one requires a precise jump to a platform that briefly extends.
• Red Coins 8-10 (Behind Walls): After the first checkpoint, in the room with the tapestry, look for small cracks or discolored sections on the walls. Throw eggs at these spots to reveal hidden coins. There are three such hidden coins in this area.
• Red Coins 11-13 (Lakitu Encounter): When you encounter the first Lakitu, defeat it. Then, look for three coins floating in a small arc above where the Lakitu was hovering.
• Red Coins 14-16 (Hidden Blocks): In the area with the rotating gears, there are three invisible Question Mark Blocks. Jump and hit the air in suspicious-looking spots (often near other visible coins or platforms) to reveal them. Each block contains a Red Coin.
• Red Coins 17-18 (Spiky Snifit Patrol): Two Red Coins are guarded by Spiky Snifits on elevated platforms. Defeat the Snifits and then collect the coins.
• Red Coins 19-20 (Final Stretch): Just before the goal ring, two Red Coins are placed above a series of crumbling platforms. You'll need to quickly jump and grab them before the platforms disappear.

Poochy Pups (3 Total)

It will break away, revealing the first Poochy Pup.
2. Poochy Pup 2 (Hidden Behind a Gear): In the area with the large, rotating cardboard gears, look closely at the background. One of the larger gears has a small, circular cutout near its center. This cutout is actually a cleverly disguised Poochy Pup. You'll need to time your egg throw precisely as the gear rotates to hit the pup directly. Poochy Pup 3 (False Pillar): Towards the end of the level, just after the section with the crumbling platforms and before the final challenge, you'll see a tall, slender cardboard pillar in the foreground. This pillar appears to be purely decorative. However, the base of the pillar, near the ground, has a subtle seam. Throw an egg at the base of this pillar to cause it to topple over, revealing the final Poochy Pup scampering out from underneath.
