Inferno Guide
Alright, let's talk about Inferno. This guy is the big bad, the ultimate antagonist of the whole Soul series, and you'll face him as the final boss in the first three games. He first showed up in Soul Blade, but he went by a different name back then: SoulEdge. You'll also see him pop up in Soulcalibur, Soulcalibur II, Soulcalibur III: Arcade Edition, and even Soulcalibur: Unbreakable Soul. He even makes a cameo in Soulcalibur V as a costume for Cervantes in Legendary Souls mode. Good news for you, he's back as an unlockable character in Soulcalibur VI!
In Soulcalibur III: Arcade Edition, he's not playable but serves as the penultimate boss. You'll fight him right before facing Abyss, Night Terror, or another player's Legend Mode character. Be ready!
Inferno is the mastermind behind Nightmare. He's possessed Siegfried in Soulcalibur and Soulcalibur II. Later, in Soulcalibur III and Soulcalibur IV, Zasalamel creates a special artificial body for him, making him the second version of Nightmare, able to walk around without needing a host. He was finally defeated when Siegfried destroyed his armor in Soulcalibur IV. But, as you know, evil never truly dies. Seventeen years later, a new Azure Knight rises, this time with Graf Dumas as the host.
Appearance
Inferno's look has changed a bit over the years. In his first appearance in Soul Edge, he looked a lot like his host, Cervantes, but with a body made of purple flames and a devilish skull for a head. You could also find him in orange, blue, or green flames.
When he showed up in Soulcalibur, he kept the fiery look, but his head became more of a half-dome, and his limbs turned into hardened claws with electricity crackling around them. He had a fiery scarf on his back, though that got removed for the console version. If you played him as a character, he had this cool, crystallized magma look due to some technical stuff that made him playable.
For Soulcalibur II, he got a more solid form. His whole body was a mix of bone and exposed flesh, and he was as tall as Astaroth! The Soul Calibur itself was stuck deep inside him, transformed by Inferno.
