Hey there, P! Before you dive headfirst into Krat, let's go over a few general combat tips that'll make your journey a whole lot smoother. These aren't tied to any specific mission, but knowing them will save you a ton of trouble.

You cannot i-frame Fury Attacks

You'll notice some enemies have these nasty special attacks where they glow red as they're winding up. Don't even think about trying to dodge through these – your invincibility frames (i-frames) on the dodge roll won't work. Your only options are to either nail a perfect guard or get out of the way. Sometimes just running in the opposite direction is enough, but be prepared to perfect guard others. There's an amulet later on that can help with this, so keep an eye out if Fury Attacks are giving you a hard time.

You can weaken some enemies with perfect guard

Here's a neat trick: when you successfully perfect guard an enemy's attack, their weapon will glow red for a bit. If you keep landing perfect guards on them, you can actually break their weapon! This is huge because it drastically cuts down the damage they deal. It's not a big deal for the regular grunts, but it's a lifesaver for some of the tougher mini-bosses, like that creepy jester puppet you'll find in Lorenzini Arcade.

Guarding is almost as good as perfect guarding

Don't sweat it if you can't nail a perfect guard every single time. Regular guarding is still super effective! Most weapons will block at least 50% of incoming damage. Plus, if you attack right after guarding, you can usually recover all the HP you lost using the Guard Regain mechanic. So, don't be afraid to block – it's a solid defensive option.
