The Kid

Follow this walkthrough for Last Day of June to help The Kid avoid the tragedy, find the kite, and unlock achievements like Explorer and I'm Still Here.

Alright, after that tough scene, you'll find yourself back as Carl in the painting room. Go ahead and interact with The Kid's painting again. This will let you rewind that memory and try to change things.

Now, you're playing as The Kid in the back garden, right where he finds the ball on the bench. Instead of what happened before, this time you need to head towards The Old Man outside the church. Turn right from the house and go up the stone stairs. You'll see a red and white rope to the left of him. You need that rope to get down to the kite, but he won't let you have it until you distract him.

Here's the plan: use the ball to knock over the vase at the top of the stairs. While The Old Man is busy with that, quickly grab the rope, tie it to the metal hook, and climb down. Once you're down, you'll see the kite. But before you go for it, head over to the telescope overlooking the lake. Use it to spot Carl and June on the pier – this will unlock the Explorer achievement. After that, make your way to the gate at the bottom of the stairs. Unlatch it and run back up to where The Old Man is standing to get your ball back.

Now, take the ball over to the tree where the kite is stuck. Use the ball to knock the kite out of the basketball hoop. With the kite in hand, go give it to The Old Man so you can play with him. This will unlock the I’m Still Here achievement. After the cutscene, you'll be back at the character cards, and you'll see a version of events where The Kid wasn't responsible for the crash.
