Forza Horizon 4 features a dynamic seasonal progression system where the game world changes weekly across spring, summer, autumn, and winter. These seasons affect environments, weather, and available activities, offering a constantly evolving gameplay experience. The game world is a stylized version of Britain, featuring locations like Edinburgh and the Cotswolds. Seasons last one week in real-time, rotating in a set order, and are the primary method for introducing new content via the Festival Playlist. Players can experience these changes through solo or co-op play.

Key Progression Features:

• Horizon Life: An online shared world for up to 72 players, offering objectives and rewards for participating in events, photography, tuning, painting, and PR stunts. It also includes Horizon Stories, which provide unique driving opportunities.
• Festival Playlist: This feature displays all Forzathon challenges and seasonal activities for a given Series, tracks player progress, and shows available rewards. Bonus rewards are given for high seasonal or Series progress.
• Forzathon: An hourly multiplayer game mode where up to 12 players complete group objectives. Forzathon points earned can be spent in the Forzathon Shop for rewards. Daily and Weekly Challenges offer specific goals, such as mastering vehicles or achieving certain feats.
• The Eliminator: A 72-player battle royale mode where players race and challenge each other within a shrinking arena until only one remains.
