Gameplay: Set in Southern France and Northern Italy, Forza Horizon 2 features a dynamic weather system and Drivatar AI. While barrier-less, invisible walls exist. The game emphasizes integrated single-player and multiplayer, with Drivatars replaced by other players online. Car Meets allow for quick races and car customization exchanges. A Perk system enhances gameplay, and the Xbox One version includes the Horizon Wheelspin.

Events: Over 700 events are available, including barrier-less cross-country races for up to 12 players. Driving challenges are presented as "Bucket Lists," each requiring a specific vehicle found within the game world. New Bucket Lists are released post-launch.

Versions: The Xbox 360 version has significant differences from the Xbox One version due to weaker hardware. It uses the original Forza Horizon engine, lacking dynamic weather, scaled-down graphics, and water/dirt effects. It features invisible walls, inaccessible areas, fewer cars (but 3 exclusives), a different achievement list, and lacks Horizon Wheelspins and DLCs. It also has more bugs and glitches.

Vehicles: The game features over 200 cars. A Porsche Expansion was released in 2015, adding over 10 Porsche vehicles and related content.

Downloadable Content: DLC includes four passes, eighteen car packs, three expansions, five bundles, and three promotional packs. A standalone expansion, "Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious," was released on March 27, 2015.
