Learn how to counter Freddy Fazbear in Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location. Understand his Enemy Mode and Blackout Mode mechanics, movement patterns, and unique weaknesses to survive the night.

Freddy Fazbear, the iconic animatronic, has two distinct modes of operation: Enemy Mode and Blackout Mode. Understanding these modes is crucial for survival in Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location.

The Basics of Freddy Fazbear

Enemy Mode: Freddy moves throughout the restaurant with other animatronics. His movement logic is similar to others but with faster movement chances.

Blackout Mode: Freddy appears at your left door after you run out of power, utilizing a separate set of mechanics.

On the Subject of Enemy Mode

Freddy has a movement chance roughly every 3 seconds, faster than other enemies, but his AI level is generally lower (maxing at 4 during normal gameplay). His movement path is fixed: Show Stage -> Dining Area -> Restrooms -> Kitchen -> East Hall -> East Hall Corner. If he reaches the East Hall Corner and succeeds another movement chance, he will move into the office if the right door is open (resulting in a game over) or retreat to the East Hall if the door is closed.

Freddy is hard to track as he hides in shadows and behind other animatronics. Listen for his deep laugh when he moves between rooms. His eyes may be visible on camera feeds if he is alone in a room.

Unique Mechanics in Enemy Mode:

  • Camera Aversion: Freddy's movement chance always fails if you are looking at his current location on camera when he attempts to move. This can be used to 'stun-lock' him on lower AI levels.
  • Delayed Movement: After a successful movement chance, Freddy has a delay before moving, calculated by 1000 - 100x frames (where x is his AI level). This delay is removed at AI level 10. His camera aversion also applies to this delay; he won't move if you're watching him, even when the delay ends, until you look away.
  • Keeping You In Suspense: If Freddy enters your office, he cannot attack while your camera is raised. While your camera is down, there's a 25% chance per second for his jumpscare to trigger. Strategic camera use and luck can help you survive these final seconds.

On the Subject of Blackout Mode

When power runs out, Freddy's Enemy Mode ceases, and Blackout Mode begins. This mode has three phases:

Phase 1:

Starts when lights dim. There's a 20% chance every 5 seconds for Freddy to appear at your left door, for a maximum of 4 attempts (20 seconds). The fourth attempt is guaranteed to succeed if the first three fail, leading to Phase 2.

Phase 2:

Freddy's lit, flickering face appears at your left door with his music box playing. Similar to Phase 1, there's a 20% chance every 5 seconds to move to Phase 3, with the fourth attempt guaranteed to succeed if previous ones fail.

Phase 3:

Occurs when the lights go completely black.
