Guide to catching the Fading Child and Cut-in Child ghosts in the Kurosawa House 1F Cloth Hallway in Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. Learn their patterns and how to snap them quickly.

As you proceed through the Kurosawa House, you will encounter a ghost in the 1F Cloth Hallway. This ghost is very fast and difficult to catch, similar to the child ghosts in Fatal Frame I's "Demon Tag" chapter. It appears briefly before running through a curtain. You must be extremely quick to spot and photograph it.

Ghost Appearance: Fading Child

This ghost appears and runs away through a curtain in less than a second. To catch it, quickly turn on Finder Mode and snap a photo. Aim down slightly as the ghost is very short. This ghost is worth about 550 points.

Before proceeding to a locked double-door, it's recommended to prepare for the next ghost encounter, which may be one of the trickiest in the game.

Ghost Appearance: Cut-in Child

To successfully catch this ghost, stand against the north wall (the wall with the double door) and turn on Finder Mode. Use the Right Analog Stick to move left until you see a child running across from the opposite wall. Immediately aim and snap a photo. You do not need to wait for the capture circle to glow, as you will likely be too late. Adjust the frame and press the Shutter button as soon as the child is visible. If done correctly, there is a 70% chance the photo will capture the glowing circle, yielding about 600 points.

Proceed to the end of the hallway and enter the door.
