Return unwanted gifts: When a grenade lands near you, a grenade symbol will appear on your (HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap)) Heads-Up Display. If you are close enough, you can throw it back for a free, pre-cooked Frag Grenade. If the computer does not immediately prompt you to press 'G', run away quickly.

Bigger guns are better: In almost every level, you start with a rifle and a pistol. Exchange your pistol for a better weapon whenever possible, such as a shotgun.

You are not alone: You will always have (NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you)) Non-Player Character teammates. While their accuracy is poor and they won't advance unless you do, they can absorb some enemy fire and help indicate the correct path. Avoid going too far ahead or behind your allies to prevent regret.

Hit the deck: When your screen becomes bloody and red, quickly find (cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects)) or go prone. Wait approximately 20 seconds for your health to regenerate.

Always advance: Enemies may spawn infinitely in many areas. Always push forward. Eliminate a few soldiers, then advance and find new (cover). Do not expect your allies to advance, as they will typically remain stationary and shoot.

Knife: At close range, use your knife for an instant kill and to conserve ammunition.

Reload often: Take any opportunity to reload, as Assault Rifles and Sub Machine Guns consume ammunition rapidly.

Always look for cover: You appear to die faster in Call of Duty 3 than in previous games, possibly due to more accurate (AI) Artificial Intelligence. It is always best to crouch behind objects like crates or barrels, provided they are not red and likely to explode.
