Jokers are a crucial element in Balatro, providing passive bonuses that can dramatically alter the course of a run. This guide covers how to effectively utilize Jokers from the early game through to the end, focusing on building powerful synergies.

Early game:

The primary goal in the early game is to acquire a strong Chips or Mult Joker. Without one, runs often falter by the Ante 2 Boss Blind. Recommended Jokers include:

• Scary Face, Smiley Face, Odd Todd, Even Steven: Provide Chips or Mult based on scored card ranks.
• Sinful Jokers (Wrathful, Lusty, Gluttonous, Greedy): Grant Mult when cards of a specific suit are scored.
• Joker: A good slot filler due to its low cost and decent effect.
• Abstract Joker, Swashbuckler: Benefit from filling Joker slots.
• Sly Joker, Droll Joker: Helpful if focusing on specific poker hands.
• Supernova: Excellent for runs focused on a single hand type.
• Gros Michel: Useful for increasing the chances of the powerful Cavendish appearing later.

Mid-to-late game (Ante 8):

Transition your build to focus on one or two specific hand types and acquire Jokers that enhance them.
