Learn about the Frag Grenade, Smoke, Flashbang, Incendiary, C4, and Breach Charge in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. Essential tactical gear.
Frag Grenade
This is a universal item you should always carry. Toss it and hope enemies are within its blast radius.
Smoke Grenade
The second essential item to carry. Toss a smoke grenade and switch to your thermal vision (a view mode that highlights enemies and heat signatures) to gain an advantage. Deploying smoke into unfamiliar areas or known enemy locations provides cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects).
Flashbang Grenade
A superior choice for multiplayer combat. Throw a flashbang, and any enemies looking directly at it will be temporarily blinded. If you are affected by a flashbang, crouch, begin backing away, and fire wildly in front of you.
Incendiary Grenade
These grenades explode on impact, creating a fiery area that resembles red dirt. They are similar to frag grenades but deal less damage. Both incendiary and frag grenades are favored by players who prefer an offensive playstyle.
C4 Explosive
You can toss C4 charges and then detonate them by pressing the grenade button again. This is likely a better option for multiplayer than for single-player missions.
Breach Charge
There is no reason to carry breach charges in single-player. They are used to blast open doors and damage enemies on the other side. However, your AI teammates carry these during the campaign.
- Always consider carrying a Frag Grenade and a Smoke Grenade as your primary loadout.
- Use Smoke Grenades in conjunction with thermal vision for effective cover and repositioning.
- Flashbangs are particularly effective in multiplayer where enemy awareness is key.
- Incendiary grenades offer area denial and are good for aggressive pushes.
- C4 provides a remote detonation option, useful for ambushes or clearing entrenched positions in multiplayer.
- Breach Charges are primarily for breaching doors and are handled by your squad in single-player.
