Mastering combat in REPLACED requires understanding the distinct weaknesses and attack patterns of the various synthetic and organic threats you will encounter. Exploiting these vulnerabilities is key to efficient combat and survival, especially when facing formidable bosses or large groups of enemies. Always observe enemy movements and attack tells before engaging.

The common Hollow Soldier, often found patrolling the early areas, is susceptible to rapid, successive attacks. While they possess a shield that blocks frontal assaults, a well-timed dodge to their flank or rear can expose them for critical damage. Their primary attack is a predictable energy blast; a quick dash to the side is usually sufficient to avoid it. Consider using the Plasma Cutter weapon, as its rapid fire rate can quickly break through their guard.

More dangerous are the Enforcer Units, heavily armored synthetic beings. These enemies are resistant to most frontal damage. Their weakness lies in their exposed power core, typically located on their back. The most effective strategy is to bait their charge attack, dodge at the last moment, and then unleash your most powerful attacks on their exposed core. Augmentations that increase your melee damage or provide a short-range teleport can be invaluable here. Be aware of their secondary attack, a ground slam that creates a shockwave; jumping over this shockwave is crucial.

In the hazardous zones of the Toxic Mire, you will encounter mutated creatures known as Gloom Crawlers. These fast-moving enemies are vulnerable to area-of-effect attacks and fire-based damage. While they can be difficult to hit due to their erratic movements, weapons like the Incendiary Grenades can deal significant damage over time. Their primary threat is their ability to spit corrosive acid, which can inflict damage over time. Maintaining distance and using evasive maneuvers is advised.

When facing boss encounters, such as the formidable Automated Sentinel guarding the central data hub, a phased approach is necessary. The Sentinel has multiple attack phases, each with unique patterns. Initially, it relies on heavy projectile barrages. During this phase, focus on dodging and identifying openings to strike its weapon emplacements. Later phases may involve ground-based attacks or the deployment of smaller drones. Augmentations that provide defensive buffs, like the Kinetic Dampener, can help mitigate damage during these intense phases. Learning the boss's attack telegraphs is paramount; a missed dodge can be fatal.
