Sniping is a technique in Mario Kart 7 where you hit an opponent with an item, such as a green shell or banana, from a distance. It is generally considered sniping when you intentionally aim for an opponent, rather than accidentally hitting them. This tactic is most effective on the long, straight sections of a track, as opposed to turns or gliding segments. Good aim can make sniping a crucial factor in securing a first-place victory.

Dodging

It is important to be aware of racers behind you, as they can quickly use items against you. Since there is no rearview mirror, the best method to monitor other racers is by observing your bottom screen (the touchscreen display). Pay attention to the positions of other racers relative to yours. If you notice opponents behind you with single green shells or triple bananas, be vigilant for incoming attacks. Even a few seconds of distraction can allow a racer behind you to land a hit.
